Uget (formerly urlgfe) is a Free and Open Source download manager written in GTK+ and can be made to use with aria2 for downloading files using torrents.Simply you may regard this as a aria2 GUI for torrents but nonetheless its much better & feature rich than aria2.
It has many of features like easy-to-use , cross-platform , support pause and resume , classify download , every category has an independent configuration and the latest release 1.8 promises much more than that. This review comes in wake of a recent question by one of my friend on email asking for another alternative download manager (my default being FatRat)
The installation is pretty simple . Just fire up your terminal and
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:plushuang-tw/uget-stable/ubuntu
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get uget
You may additionally add aria2 and enable its integration with Uget from Eit>Settings>Plug-in
For adding aria2 use command
sudo apt-get install aria2
Uget has a very simple interface with scheduler built into it having support for shutting down system when download gets completed which is a rare feature in Linux based download managers. Also it has a uTorrent alike time based scheduler which is very helpful for users having limited number of “free download” hours.Additionally it can be easily integrated with Firefox using Flashgot and Chrome using Download Assistant . Uget supports notifications via notify-osd and also has a file monitoring support which takes it at par with any other download manager available in the market.
So from our side its a much have app on your system and we give it a rating of 9 out of 10 . For more please visit www.urlget.sourceforge.net
