Get ready to be “Steamed” | Valve announces Steam Machines and Steam Controller

Steam Controller

After recently announcing “Steam OS” , Valve has announced two new flagship products for coming year 2014 which compliment to the recently announced Steam OS.This includes Steam Machines, different “Steam OS” powered hardware gadgets like Smart TV’s + PC’s or maybe more, manufactured by different hardware manufacturers . Frankly this is a huge announcement , and looking at what Valve offers this looks like more of capturing the dwindling PC hardware market which is quickly shifting towards smartphone and tablets.Other thing which Valve announced  along with Steam Machines is Steam Controller which is more of a game controller with two touch-pads featuring new haptic feedback technology , actuators and touch screen.Steam is planning to release this in early 2014 , and looking at the current developments it seems they are quite optimistic and aggressive about it.

Currently these two offering are under development and will soon be released for beta testing , exclusively for 300 beta testers. Here is how you can participate in it

Before October 25, log in to Steam and then visit your quest page to track your current status towards beta test eligibility
3. Make 10 Steam friends (if you haven’t already)
4. Create a public Steam Community profile (if you haven’t already)
5. Play a game using a gamepad in Big Picture mode

Still there are lot of question left on how good the product will be in itself , will it be premium offering and what will be the pricing model but one thing for sure is that Linux will be having a great future and so will be Linux gaming.Android has proved what Linux can offer if presented correctly, and soon you will see Mobile OS from Ubuntu as well and Steam foraying into Linux market just strengthens that fact.
Fingers Crossed (X) , lets hope Valve understates and over delivers as it always does ,till then Happy Gaming..!!!
