Hello Linoobs! Today we are about to show you how to monitor your internet usage in Ubuntu in an easy way with a tool called Bitmeter. Those of you who already know about it, great, the rest, just read on. BitMeter is a bandwidth meter – it allows you to visually monitor your internet connection by displaying a scrolling graph that shows your upload and download speed over time. Its a quite good alternative to DU meter for Windows.
Bitmeter Desktop Client : Download this package, unzip it. Access the unzipped directory via command line and run the file like below:
wget http://codebox.org.uk/downloads/bitmeteros/pythonclient cd ~/Downloads unzip BitMeterOSPythonClient cd bm python main.py
That’s it !
You can use Bitmeter using a web browser, or you can install the experimental Desktop Client that gives you real-time view of your bandwidth usage right on your desktop. We personally prefer the Web browser option as it is more detailed and stable.
